This game for young children was created from scratch with the visual programming language Delphi. The game is based on the well known game of Mahjong where the player has to click pairs of identical tiles one after the other to make them disappear. A screen-shot of the game is shown below:

This
shows the
start of the Donkey pattern game. When
you click the NEW GAME button the tiles are randomly placed in the
chosen pattern. Clicking a tile with the left mouse
button will cause its outline to either turn red if it is available or
show no change and give a little honking sound if it is not available.
To be available the tile has to have at least one long side
free
(not against another tile). In the above screen-shot, the tile
that is the Donkey's ear is available and has been clicked.
To
make it and another identical teddy pattern tile disappear the player
has to now click another free identical tile. There are 3
other
such tiles, two of which (in the Donkey's body) are not free (both long
sides are touching other tiles). The other one, at the Donkey's front hoof,
is free so clicking this will make both tiles disappear. The
player can then choose another pair of identical free tiles to click
with the object to clear all of the tiles in the pattern.
When all the tiles have gone a yellow panel appears to confirm it and the player can click the NEW GAME button to play the same pattern again with the tiles in different places or choose another pattern before clicking the NEW GAME button. If all the tiles could not be cleared (or in any case), the player can click the TRY AGAIN button to play the same pattern with the same tile positions as before.
There are ten different patterns to play, with more and different tiles in the patterns lower on the list.
(Note: To run the game, double click the downloaded file match.exe. )
